The dwarves are a subrace of Humans. Through mutation and constant exposure to extreme climates, the dwarves have evolved as the hardiest race on the planet. They are short and stout, standing at around 4 to 4.5 feet tall. They can survive comfortably with no warm clothing in temperatures down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit, yet withstand scorching heat up to 130 degrees without breaking a sweat. They can also survive without any food and water for about a month. This is mostly due to their body’s ability to recycle its own water, and dwarves have the most efficient digestive system on the planet, using up almost all the nutrients of their food, leaving almost no waste. Their powerful stomachs destroy most bacteria and viruses, and their livers can counteract almost any poisons, so they can eat rotten food or drink sewer water with no problems. However, these hardy bodies have one requirement to make them work properly: alcohol. A dwarf generally requires about one liter of 100% alcohol per week for their systems to function properly, and they will drink pure alcohol if they need to survive, but they usually drink ales, beers, rums, and the like at a leisurely pace, and usually end up drinking much more than they actually need to survive.
Dwarves in the West
In the west dwarves live in a clan based structure and are highly unorganized as a whole. These dwarf clans range from 100 members to a couple thousand members and are scattered across the mountains canyons and deserts of the area. They try to avoid the wetter parts of the area. However these Dwarves are very industrious and will do almost anything to make a pretty penny (mine, make weapons/armor (out of metal almost exclusively rarely do they make hide or leather armors), become mercenaries, trade goods and so on. Due to the large number of Dwarves in the southwestern region the Kingdom of Aladar loves to higher them as mercenaries and even has standing Dwarf units incorporated into their army.
